My Own Experience to Grand Canyon
It is still very clear and unforgettable in my life. It made me really know what life is, even though, I am young yet. It was the trip during spring break to Arizona, the Grand Canyon, one of the three greatest landscapes in the US.
In the early morning, about 4:00 am, eight of us assembled in the Willis’s house and got ready for our unknown trip. Jeff’s Audi-A4 would be the first vehicle and James’s Nissan-Altima would be the second one. After a hearty breakfast, we got on the way to the Grand Canyon.
On the second day, we arrived at the Grand Canyon; we were really shocked by it. I was the first one who really saw the landscape. Believe it or not, I was blunt and speechless and tried to yell “came here quickly, you guys.” But, I can’t wait anymore to move closer to the edge of the Grand Canyon which was very dangerous. The unearthly color, grandeur and quantity of its architecture as if I had found a death of some star.

After making up our necessities such as food and water, we started our adventure at 8:30 am. Everyone was very exciting at the first 3 hours. Before we started, we made a decision that no matter where we arrived at 12:00pm, and then we would go back after one hour rest. However, the truth was we reached the Colorado River, the bottom of the Grand Canyon, at 11 am. Then, our lunch was easy. Chocolate was the appetizer and dessert; Beef jerky would be our main dish and water would be our beverage. First of all, we thought we were really successful because there were only eight of us down the bottom, and we were one hour earlier than our prediction. But, when we tried to get up, we even could not make it. Everyone’s muscle hurt badly including our best athlete Lewis. Only 20 minutes walking, almost everyone was extremely tired and need another one-hour rest. We started to be far away little by little when everybody suffered from clonuses, four of us got sunstroke and three of us got hypoglycemia. Finally, we could not stand anymore. Lewis gave three of us the little chocolate he hid in his bag for providing Fion, Jeff and me energy. Those would be our final food and only three liters water for eight of us. There was at least four miles to walk to the top. It was already 3:00 pm. The worst thing was eventually happened. Because of our unmovable bodies, we were separated from one group to 2 groups then to 5 groups in the end. Lewis was the leader, James and Fion were the second group, David was in the third group, I was in the fourth group by myself, and Clover Chris and Jeff were together at the most behind. There was no water, no food, no energy and nobody had energy to help others. At that moment, I knew we were in a biggest trouble since I was born. I thought it would be the same thing for them. We were face to die. We were not successful yet. Thanks to God, we were in the Canyon and it was very quiet. We can hear any sound. James and David started to yell “you guys can remove the surface snow and put some clean snow in your mouth to make up your lost moisture.” Definitely, we had to accept this suggestion. While, we actually had another choice was call 911 ask for help then we would be ok. But, everyone wanted to make this adventure by ourselves. Finally, I chose to use my hands and feet to walk. And I had to take a three to five minutes rest for walking one minute at most. My legs felt like they were over 100 pounds stones on it and thousands of strings were shrinking my muscles. My vision became unclear, a little bit dark but colorful. My heartbeat was so strong that I even could hear it. Over thousands times of rest and walk, I arrived at the top. After I was pretty sure that was the top of the canyon, I tried my best to yell out “I am the king of the world” to the canyon.
I have never had a so strong feeling of my life. This is the life. We have extremely thirst for life and extraordinarily fragile life. Life will be very easy to lose but very hard to survive.
